What items should go in your ‘On the go’ makeup kit?

I will be honest here, I do not wear makeup everyday. There are some days when I have slept on time the night before and I am feeling well rested that I feel alert enough to throw on foundation and eyeliner but most days I don’t wear anything. I tend to focus more on my skin care to make sure that my skin looks good because I notice that especially in winter my eczema tends to flare up. However, something I find really useful is essentially having two makeup kits, and even though I don’t…

Airspun Setting Powder. What does it look like on dark skin tones?

Hey guys, so here is another review for y’all. So I’m that type of person that reads the comments, the comments of everything. I even read the comments of YouTube videos or blog posts before watching the videos! The comments section is where the party at, don’t forget who told you! So I was doing my usual reading through the comments and I noticed someone mentioning this airspun setting powder and how amazing it is. Ooooohhhhh my curiosity antennas were wriggling as they do, so I had to try it. *** What do they say about…

My Favourite Drugstore Foundations | Maybelline, LA Girl etc

It’s really easy to get sucked into the idea that makeup has to be expensive to be good. Also, as a woman of colour, I don’t know about you but I got very used to the idea that I have to spend money on foundation in order to get my shade. I was just used to walking around UK drugstores and not seeing shades my colour. Lately, I have been spending my time scouring the UK high street and drugstores to try and find good, affordable foundations, and here is a list of my favourite…

Are Foundation Sticks making a comeback? | Best Foundation sticks for Women of Colour

The game has really changed for cream foundations. I tend to use cream foundations for my contour because I find it more natural than using powder and it blends out nicely. But I recently decided to buy the Hourglass foundation stick and I was so impressed, I am now a firm believer in cream foundations. The new and improved formula for most of these foundation sticks gives your skin a flawless finish as well as hydrating the skin. They are lightweight and creamy and make applying so easy. They are less messy than liquid foundations. Oily…

Comparing Concealers for Medium to Dark Skin Tones | Tarte Shape Tape, Urban Decay, NARS & LA Girl

Hey guys, I can’t believe we are coming up to the end of January 2017! Where has time gone?! I picked up some makeup bits and bobs while I was in LA a few days ago, one specifically being the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. My friend and I got this concealer at IMATS 2017, so we got it at a discount which was really cool. One thing that bugs me about Tarte is the fact that that it is not easy to get in the UK. They are not on beautybay.com or on cultbeauty.com, and…

Using a SiliSponge to do my Makeup | Does it work?!

2016 was definitely about my Instagram feed being filled with people trying and using things to apply their makeup that frankly should not be used on someone’s face! I saw spoons, knives, Vagisil as a primer, Sanitary pads to apply their foundation. Lord have mercy! Usually I see this nonsense and I keep on scrolling! No shade but come on guys, is the struggle so real that we cannot use normal makeup products and makeup brushes anymore?! The day I look at my Always sanitary towel and think ummmmm I should use this to apply…

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder on Dark Skin | Is it better than Sacha Buttercup Powder?

I have heard so much about this Laura Mercier setting powder but if I am honest, I have been been putting off this purchase. I was worried about the powder being too light. My chocolate ladies will understand me when I say white powder + dark skin = ashiness. It is quite a simple and logical equation! And people tell me my maths is poor! When I see white powder, I think of baby powder, no matter how translucent they claim to be. I use and swear by my Sacha Buttercup Setting Powder, which is…
