I don’t know about you guys, but this time of the year when I start reviewing how the year has gone, I take a look at my finances and think how could I have done things better. When I am reviewing my finances, my progress, my life, I tend to try and cut back on things I want and focus on things that I actually need. Makeup for me is a luxury and can be an expensive ‘want’ sometimes and I know that there are times you just want affordable makeup! What I love about Christmas time is that these cute and affordable makeup products come out in full force! So here are my top makeup and beauty buys for under £25! Yup, I said it £25! They make great christmas presents too.
*N.B I specifically selected products which I know would suit medium to dark skin tones, however, these products will also suit other skintone.
Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder Travel size – £10
Shades: Light (for fair to medium skin tones) and Dark (for deep skin tones)
I always say that if you are testing out luxury makeup items or you are not a frequent makeup user, look for the travel sized versions. This is the perfect powder to take on holiday, rather carrying the full sized version. This travel sized version of the Cover FX setting powder is £10! Say goodbye to flashback with this powder, as it is talc-free! Thank God! I love the fact that there is a shade for medium to dark skin tones. It is a lightweight and it is not cakey. I think this is a great buy.
MAC Snowball Mini Lipstick Kit (3 mini lipsticks) – Rose Edition (Online Exclusive) – £25
Buy from here
Shades: Whirl (Dirty Rose – Matte), Charlotte (Rich yellow Red – Matte), and Supersmooch (Deep burgundy – Matte)
Who doesn’t love MAC lipsticks?! I think MAC lipsticks are a staple in every chocolate girl’s makeup collection. I love their shades, there is a shade for every skin tone, and I love the way the lipsticks feel on the lips. Their matte lipsticks are not super drying on the lips. Who else loves the vanilla smell in their lipsticks? No? It’s just me then! I really like the shades of this specific lipstick kit as they would suit chocolate ladies. These three mini lipsticks come with a really cool sequined makeup bag and all for £25?! What a bargain!
Eyeko Eye Wardrobe Travel size – £20
Skinny Liquid Eyeliner, Black Magic Mascara, and Brow Gel
I have tried the skinny eyeliner and I fell in love. It is a felt pen, rather than a brush, but it is a felt pen with a difference. It lasts for a long time and is super black. I was so impressed with the eyeliner, because I always assumed that felt pens dried up really quickly, but not this one. Based on my experience with the eyeliner, I would love to try the brow gel and mascara and for £20, why not?!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlight Mini – £15
Buy from here
Shades available: ‘Opal’ (golden, peach-toned opal), ‘Rose Gold’ (golden rosy pink) – great options for chocolate girls
Becca products are amazing! The quality of their products are second to none, however their products are unlikely to be on the cheaper side. I use their highlighters and primers, and I do not have one complaint about them, actually I do…the price! Their highlighters are powders but are so creamy and pigmented a little goes a lonngggggg way! The pigmentation is intense! My wonderful hubby broke mine and I actually contemplated killing him! I just started screaming! It was not funny at all! I managed to fix it back together but it doesn’t look the same *sob*. Anyways, these amazing highlighters are available in the mini version, so rather than getting the full sized version for £34, the mini (handbag friendly version) costs £15. It is also a great way to test these highlighters without committing to the full size.
Cover FX Illuminating Prime and Set – £22
Illuminating Primer, illuminating Setting Spray and Highlighter Custom Enhancer drops
Since we are on the topic of highlighting and illuminating your life, this mini set is amazing value. Three products for £22. A primer, a setting spray and the best thing, the custom drops. Let me tell you about these custom enhancer drops, they are…..I don’t even have the words. Basically this was my reaction when I tested it out in the store. The pigmentation of the liquid highlighter was unreal! Seriously just unreal. It was like all my highlighter dreams in one bottle. Why didn’t I get it then? Because of the price *sobs*. I have so many highlighters, I couldn’t justify spending £34 on another highlighter, but it has always been on my mind. This set is a great way of trying this highlighter without paying the full price.
Beauty Bay’s Take the Crown Collection: Frozen Reign – £25
Juvia’s Place Eyeshadow ”Angola.
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow ‘Americano’.
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Highlight ‘Gilded Honey’.
Dose of Colours Lipstick ‘Mood’.
Let me just say that this collection was created for chocolate ladies! No, literally I believe that whoever put this look together had medium to dark skin tones in mind. All of these products make a great makeup look. You have ‘Angola’ on your eyelids, with ‘Americano’ in the crease. Dust some ‘Gilded Honey’ on your cheekbones, your cupids bow, your nose and underneath your brows. Finish off with ‘Mood’ on your lips and girl!!!! Girl! You are good to go!
