Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation | First Impressions and Review

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation | First Impressions and Review

This foundation has been on my to-buy list for a long time, but when push came to shove I would buy another foundation. I think subconsciously I thought it would be the same as my NARS foundation, which is not matte for me at all. What has recently attracted me to this foundation was the new release of new shades which were great for my melanin rich beauties. When a brand brings out 40 shades of a foundation, catering for the fairest of ladies to the darkest chocolate ladies, I am sold.

Alot of us ladies with medium to dark skin tones have been sold the NW45 lie! No shade to MAC, but I swear that every dark skinned girl was NW45 regardless of their undertones! No ladies, get samples of other brands and get your undertones matched properly. Some of us have more golden undertones, some of us have red undertones. NW45 is not the only shade for chocolate ladies.

Anyways, so one day, I was strolling through a shopping centre and stumbled on a Lancome concession. The conversation in my head went a little something like this.

Me: oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see foundation!

Also me: Remember your budget, remember your bank account, remember…..

Me: Oh whatever, you only live once! Also, they are offering a free foundation brush. *Hands over card*

My shade: 13.3

Like I said earlier, I thought this foundation wouldn’t be matte but I was wrong. The consistency is watery, abit more watery than I would have expected. I wasn’t sure how much foundation to use because of the consistency, but after using it a couple of times, I settled on 3 pumps. Two pumps did not give me the coverage that I liked. 3 pumps was perfect for me. What I do is apply one pump at a time, to ensure a flawless and well blended look. It also gives me more control of the foundation so that I don’t apply too much in one go.  One thing I did notice that because the consistency is on the watery side, it blends out so well. It is a dream to blend out and it is so lightweight.

I tried to use the free Lancome foundation blending brush that came with the foundation but I was not feeling it. It had silky synthetic bristles and it was like the foundation slipped right off it. It was not blending anything for me. For me blending is dabbing or buffing, not swiping. So I picked up my buffing brush and used that instead.

This is medium to full coverage foundation. It starts off medium but it is definitely buildable.

This foundation is truly semi matte. It is not completely matte but gives a semi-matte finish. This foundation surprised me, it lasted all day for me, and I didn’t have to retouch during the day. I used two different primers with this foundation and it worked well with both of them. I loved the fact that this foundation didn’t crease or separate during the day. I hate when foundations do that! I am so impressed with this foundation, to the point that it has been my go-to foundation since I bought it.

My face is beat, the sun is shining and I was feeling great. Excuse my struggle brow, the other one is actually better. The silly brow was being an enemy of progress! Oh well, still I rise! Haha! I used my usual BECCA Primer underneath the foundation and my LAURA MERCIER translucent powder as my setting powder. This is my ‘everyday’ makeup look, I will be doing a post on this soon, so stay tuned.

My lipstick didn’t survive after munching on the yummiest food, but surprisingly my foundation did! Can you guys see this?! Excuse the poor lighting on the train, but my face is still kinda beat! I am impressed!
