January has been one looooonnng month. I swear it felt like it was 50 days long!
No money, cold weather, long nights and shorter days can make you feel like crap, if I’m honest.
I think this is the month where all the goals that you set at the beginning of the year can start unravelling when you look at your situation and the goals ahead of you. It seems like a mammoth task to achieve. Here are some tips to get rid of those blues:
Get out abit more.
The cold weather can make you hibernate at home, snuggled up in front of the tv or tucked away in your bed. When someone invites you out, you groan because that means being in the cold for longer than necessary! But what I have found is that you always feel better after going out. I recently went to a networking event and I felt so much better after going. Just by speaking to people with different backgrounds and different perceptions on life motivated me to continue striving for my dreams.
Keep on focusing on your goals and pushing forward regardless of how you feel.
Emotions can be very deceiving, so we cannot rely on them. There are times where you feel blah, and you cannot be bothered to think about your business idea or your goal. You prefer to watch mindless tv or just focus on anything else to wile away time. No, these are the times when you need to force your mind to work. Get out of that funky mood and start planning how you will achieve your goal. Create bitesize tasks and a to-do list so that you can keep yourself on track. Don’t let your emotional state affect your vision.
Whatever you want to get or to achieve this year, start putting your plan into motion. Do not let your current situation hinder your progress. You want to start a business but have no money? Start planning how to get the money and what you will do with the money once you get it. You want to have a child? Start planning as if the child is already here. You have to start thinking as though you have received what you desire. It is called having faith. Like I have said before, when you speak these things into existence, you have to start acting in that way.
Do things to keep your mood up, such as exercise or listening to happy music. Whatever it is that makes you feel happy and invigorated. I like listening to upbeat, happy music especially in the morning when getting out of bed is a struggle. If going for a run or exercising makes you feel better from that adrenalin pumping through your system then do it. If it is fun activities like dancing, then go for a zumba class or just dance around in your living room like no one is watching! Why the hell not?!
You are not alone.
Lastly, other people are going though this too. Speak to a trusted friend about your worries and how you are feeling, a problem shared is a problem halved. Or team up with a friend to support each other like a prayer buddy, or just find someone you can talk to and is a good listener. You will be surprised how much of a difference it makes.
