5 Days of Trying New Products | Day 3: New Look Beauty on Dark Skin

I walked into New Look to pick up a pair of boots (which didn’t fit by the way!) and I saw some foundation. What?! I took 3 steps back! Were my eyes deceiving me?! Foundation in New Look? Foundation for dark skin tones?! Hold up! I just had to buy it. I just threw in some lipstick for good measure!

NEW LOOK NO SHINE MATTIFYING FOUNDATION

Shade: Chestnut

£7.99

I bought the foundation from one of the New Look stores, but I checked online and I could see two shades for medium to dark skin tones: Caramel and Chestnut.

The packaging of this foundation feels expensive. It does not feel like you are buying foundation that is less than a tenner. The packaging looks very similar to the NARS Luminous foundation, with the black square bottle cover, a pump and a semi transparent bottle. I was sceptical about this foundation, I cannot lie! I expected the colour to be either too red or just ashy, but I put my hands up to say that I was wrong! This foundation was easy to blend, it had great coverage, and just felt nice on my skin.

I would even go as far to say that if I gave you the NARS foundation and this New Look foundation in plain bottles and asked you to test it, you would choose the New Look foundation. Yup! That is a huge statement but its true. I don’t know what formula New Look used, but they got it spot on. I even had to look at the ingredients because I was that intrigued!!! For £7.99 you know?!!

It lasted throughout the day. It was matte without feeling too drying. I didn’t have to touch up all day.

My only peeve is that the pump dispenses too much product, so don’t press the pump fully else you may end up wasting some product.

I love this foundation and I will definitely continue to use it.

NEW LOOK MATTE LIPSTICK

Shade: Orchid

£3.99

This lipstick was ok, nothing special really. The colour was alot pinker on my lips than I thought, but that could be because I have naturally pink lips. It was not matte, not in the slightest. It was moisturising though.

HOW MY FOUNDATION LOOKED AFTER FIVE HOURS

(I did not retouch/reapply my makeup throughout the day)

As you can see my lipstick has practically gone, but my makeup is pretty much intact. My face is still matte and there is no shine. The coverage is still there. I used the same BECCA primer, and the foundation worked well with it. This foundation is on point.

CONCLUSION:

I love this foundation. New Look came through with the formula of this foundation. For less than £10?!! Who said you cannot look good on a budget?! I am still in shock. Again, I do wish they had more shades for women with dark skin tones.

I am not really a fan of the lipstick because it was not matte, even though it said it was matte. But it felt really nice and comfortable.

New Look Beauty really surprised me. The quality was great and the products are really affordable.
