Sleek Matte Me Lipsticks | New shades on Dark skin

As a British blogger (I hate calling myself that sometimes!), I think it is important for me to ensure that I review products that are available in the UK. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the wave of the things we don’t have here, forgetting that we do have some pretty good makeup products here.

One of the great makeup brands we have in the UK is Sleek Cosmetics. Sleek have been around since I was a teenager battling with acne and obsessing over boys…which I like to think was a long time ago! When they first started they were mainly targeted at women of colour. As a black girl I was able to buy Sleek products in the drugstore with confidence that it would not make me look ashy and would suit my skin. That was and still is a big deal in the UK. Since then, they have become more accessible for all women of different shades, however thankfully the products are still great and suit my skin tone.

During my quest to find great matte liquid lipsticks, I can’t believe I overlooked Sleek’s Matte Me liquid lipsticks. They released these new shades so I bought all of them to see how they were. The great thing about Sleek is that their makeup products are affordable and great quality. It is the equivalent of NYX or Milani in the US.

These lipsticks are £4.95 in any UK drugstore such as Superdrug and Boots. They are pigmented and you get the full colour in one coat. They dry matte however they are very comfortable on the lips. They are not drying. I ate, had a nap and did my everyday activities and the colour was still on my lips. I did not have to reapply at any point during the day. My transfer test is always kissing my daughter. It is nice to be able to kiss her and not have to wipe lipsticks from her forehead. These ‘Matte Me’ liquid lipsticks are kiss-proof, they do not transfer.

The colours I picked up are: Bittersweet, Shabby Chic, Velvet Slipper, Fired Up, Old Hollywood, and Vino Tinto.

SHABBY CHIC – Light baby Pink

I did not think this colour would suit me because pink this light usually looks too light for my skintone, but I was pleasantly surprised!

BITTERSWEET – A pink with a hint of Orange

Sorry! I know my description didn’t make sense! It is a deeper pink than Shabby Chic, but it has orange-y undertones. Like a pinky-orange. That didn’t make sense either did it?! I’m just going to give up now! Moving on……

VELVET SLIPPER – Mauve/Dusky Pink

One of my favourites. It is almost a dupe for Colourpop’s Tulle

FIRED UP – Vibrant Red

This is a beautiful red and will suit every skin tone especially medium to dark skin tones

OLD HOLLYWOOD – Deep blood red

Yassssss honey! Come through! (Sorry! I got excited with this colour!)

VINO TINTO – Deep berry red

Y’all know how I feel about these deep liquid lipsticks…..I loveeeee them
