It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart.”
I will be honest with you guys because a little self-awareness doesn’t hurt anybody. I don’t like who I am when I am stressed and anxious. I don’t like the person I become in those situations. I used to be able to thrive on stress, in my job, my life…you know when pressure and stressful situations bring out the best in you. But lately, I don’t handle these situations well, especially because I internalise my stress which I think can be even more harmful.
I realise the importance of calm and peace. One of the things that attracted me to my husband was the sense of calm he brought into my chaotic world. As a christian, when I decided to live my life for Christ, I remember the incredible feeling of peace I had never felt before. Now, I gravitate towards things that bring a sense of calm and peace to my world and seek to live a simple, uncomplicated life….well that’s the aim, not sure if I have achieved it yet!
Here are some quotes that help me to restore my sense of calmness:
“Sometimes I wish that I could go into a time machine right now and just look at myself and say, ‘Calm down. Things are gonna be fine. Things are gonna be all great. Just relax.”
“After a storm comes a calm.”
