10 Great Tips for Wearing Makeup with Glasses

I wear glasses and contact lens. I have to admit that I am as blind as a bat! I cannot see a thing unless it is at the tip of my nose! I always found it difficult to wear glasses and makeup at the same time. Why? Because I cant see what I am doing if I take off my glasses! I am not about to be walking around with a wonky brow or a ‘winged’ eyeliner that reaches my eyebrows! Some of you guys understand the struggle! So i used to just avoid putting on makeup when I am wearing glasses. But lately, I love that glam look with sophisticated glasses. It gives you that #girlboss look which I am totally feeling right now.

So here are some tips to putting on makeup with glasses:

***

Define and shape your brows. Your glasses especially if you have heavy or plastic frames draws attention to the top half of your face so enhance these areas. Highlight your brows.

Keep eyeshadows neutral or simple, rather than using bold, bright colours to prevent your eyes looking too heavy. When in doubt, a winged eyeliner with a highlighted tearduct works everytime for me. A smokey eyeshadow look also works really well with glasses. If you really want colour on your eyes, use coloured eyeliner.

***

Use a great mascara to lengthen and add volume to your lashes. Wearing long wispy falsies with glasses is not really practical as they will hit your glasses which can become very annoying. If you are blessed with long natural lashes, use an eyelash curler and use your mascara at the root of your eyelashes rather that at the tips, to create volume rather than length.

***

Use waterproof mascara. Mascara on your lens is the worst!

***

Use a blush and a bronzer to add colour and dimension to your face, and contour away.

Statement frames with statement lips is life!!! It is such a good look! Save the bright colours for your lips.

***

Get that glow honey! Highlight your cheekbones, under your brows and your tearducts to give you that glow, and highlight your complexion.

***

Heavy foundation does not look good when it starts to cake around the nose area, where the glasses rest on your face. I apply my foundation lightly using concealer the same shade as my foundation to cover up any blemishes or areas of pigmentation.

***

If your nose is practically smushed against your mirror like mine to see yourself while putting on your makeup (short sighted) or the mirror is 2,000 metres away (long-sighted) then own it. The results will be great so just hang on in there. I am short-sighted, so I get really close to the mirror when I am doing my brows, eye makeup and foundation, then I pop on my glasses to finish off the rest.

Using primer and a little dusting of finishing powder on your nose will prevent your glasses from slipping and sliding everywhere.
