Spend or Save | NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer vrs LA Pro Girl Concealer

I know people who will swear by NARS everything. NARS foundation, NARS concealer, even NARS clothes (I am joking, NARS don’t do clothes!).

I try not to follow what every Youtuber buys, but sometimes the struggle is intense! I find myself thinking ‘it might work for me!’ so I caved in and bought NARS Creamy Concealer and NARS foundations (so much for resilience!). So far, they have been really good.

I have used LA Girl Pro Concealer ever since I have started highlighting and contouring my face. It is a great product to use as a beginner. Now, I am trying other products.  Click here for a detailed guide on how to highlight and contour Highlighting and Contouring for dark skin.

My Shade:

LA Girl Pro Concealer – Fawn

NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer – Caramel

The NARS creamy concealer is high coverage and works incredibly well as an under eye concealer. I use a shade two times lighter than my foundation for the highlighted look. The consistency is not as thick as the LA Girl Pro Concealer, it is slightly more watery.  They both blend well when using a damp beauty blender or a brush, though I think the NARS Concealer blended a little bit better due to its consistency.

LA Girl is also high coverage and covers up any dark circles or discolouration really well.

The big difference is the price. You can get LA Girl Concealer for less than £4 in any hair shop or on eBay, whereas the NARS Creamy Concealer will set you back £23. Is it worth it? It depends what you want from your makeup application to be honest. If you are after a simple under eye concealer that is easy to apply, blends well and is inexpensive, then you might want to try LA Girl.

For £4, I know I shouldn’t complain about the packaging of the LA Girl Concealer but I will (there is no pleasing some people!). I have noticed that on some occasions water comes out of my LA Girl. I don’t know if this is because the product has separated inside the tube but it was a little strange. However, after shaking the tube, the concealer came out. The applicator brush of the LA Girl Pro Concealer can become clogged and after that you might as well chuck it in the bin and get a new one because no concealer comes out. Well you can cut the bottom of the tube and scoop the concealer out but it is not that deep for me! I have had 4 tubes of LA Girl and this clogging has happened once.

The packaging for the NARS Concealer is great for me as it gives me control over how much product I want to apply. The applicator allows me to get into the small areas on my eye without getting the product everywhere.

There are limited shades available in NARS for women of colour so be sure to get a sample first. LA Girl has a large variety of shades available.

The great thing about NARS is that it does not crease. I have lines under my eyes (old age is catching up with me!) so I like under eye products that do not settle into these lines and make them more noticeable. The NARS creamy concealer did not need me to apply much setting powder to stop the creasing. It is also hydrating so it does not feel dry on my skin.

LA Girl creases for me, so I have to pack in the setting powder once I apply it. I also have to leave the setting powder to bake for a few minutes as a further step to prevent creasing. If creasing is not a problem for you then LA Pro girl might be a good product for you. Despite this, I still use both.

Right – LA Girl Pro Concealer (Fawn)

Left – NARS Creamy Concealer (Caramel)

Note: I have not blended the concealers out. I took this picture prior to blending to show you guys what the two products look like when I first apply them.

All in all, I like both of the products. Both have the coverage I look for in an under eye highlight.

NARS – has a great light consistency, it is hydrating, does not crease and the packaging allows you to be in control of how much you apply.

LA Girl – has a thicker consistency, lots of different shades available. It is cheap and available in a lot of places. A little bit of the product goes a long way.

Which one do you have? Which one do you prefer or want to buy?

Hi, thanks for the post! Is Nars Caramel and LA Girl Fawn the same shade? I am trying so hard to find a dupe for Caramel in the LA Girl range but it is hard to see with your lighting in the photo if they are the same shade. Thanks!

Hi Mel, thank you commenting and reading! Sorry that the lighting in the picture isn’t great. Fawn (LA Girl) is a very close dupe for NARS Caramel. However Fawn is slightly more yellow than than Caramel. Try Warm Honey, I think that would be a closer match because it is cooler and less yellow. I hope that helps x

I agree – I have warm honey as my back up concealer when my NARS runs out before I was ready lol

Thank you for this review, it was really helpful. I’m starting to run out of my second tube of NARS and wanted to try the La Girl concealer, cause Iove their colour corrector, but I wasn’t sure what would be a colour dupe for NARS caramel.
